FAQ

Common
questions

If you're considering reaching out, you might have a few questions first. Here are some of the things people often ask.

Do I need a referral to see you?
No referral is needed to book a session. However, a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP can make you eligible for a Medicare rebate.
What is a Clinical Psychologist?
Clinical Psychologists complete extra years of specialised training on top of a standard psychology degree, focusing specifically on diagnosing and treating more complex or severe mental health difficulties. This deeper training means they're well equipped to work with a broad range of presentations, using approaches grounded in research evidence.
What does a session cost?
Sessions are $250 for a full 50 minutes. With a valid Mental Health Care Plan, the Medicare rebate is $149.05. Private health insurance may also cover all or part of the fee — check with your fund directly.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes — sessions are available both in-person and via telehealth. Please let us know if you would like your appointment to be via telehealth. We utilise Zoom for all telehealth sessions and will send you a link prior to the appointment.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a chat to understand what's brought you here, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. There's no pressure to have it all figured out — we take things at your pace.
Is everything I discuss with my psychologist confidential?
Absolutely. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of clinical psychology practice. What you discuss is strictly confidential, adhering to the ethical guidelines and legal requirements of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and relevant privacy laws. There are very limited circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken — for example, if there is an immediate and serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. These circumstances will be fully explained during your first session and outlined in our consent forms. Your trust and privacy are paramount.
What's your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Less than 24 hours' notice will incur the full session fee. You'll receive an automated text and email reminder before your appointment to help with this.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy is for anyone who wants to feel heard, work through what's weighing on them, or simply have dedicated space to think. If you're unsure, a first session is a low-pressure way to find out whether it feels like the right fit.
How long will I need therapy for?
This varies from person to person. Some people find a handful of sessions helpful, others prefer ongoing support. We'll check in regularly and shape the plan around what's working for you.
